We're pleased to say that the flying field maintenance is complete for now. The hardcore extension is down and rolled, the flight line fences are up, pit fences are in, the first table is in and the strip has been rolled again. With all this, don't forget who broke there backs shovelling tones of hardcore for days, or who sat on the roller for hours on end in the wind and rain, or who cut the fence posts to size and hammered them in or who washes up after you and generally keeps the field clean! Is this you? Well, thank you very much! We appreciate it a lot.
When Flying please stand in the flight box area for safety reasons, regardless of who you are! To be honest the new flight line layout does actually help pilots with determining where the tree is and eases landing approaches from the right for the novice, so stand in it please.
The strip is always getting better and better and is by far flat enough to even get small electric ducted fans off as seen the day before rolling! but there are still some small grooves up the top right hand corner on the pits side. Not that many people land that far up, but be warned that very low props may trim the grass so try and stay more centre of the strip.
Rollin' till the cows come home!
Thanks to Brian, Mark, Will & Chris the field is now flatter and better than ever. The boys battled it out to the finish from the early AM for hours in the bitter cold winds till night fell. Blued-bodied and numb-bummed they staggered off into the sun set like four John Waynes ready to roll another.
